Most "near the Smokies" hotels in Gatlinburg are actually 2–5 miles from the park entrance. Motel 6 Gatlinburg is different: our property literally borders the Great Smoky Mountains National Park boundary. Sugarlands Visitor Center, the main park gateway, is just 2 miles south on Highway 441. For hikers, photographers, and anyone who wants to be out on the trail at sunrise, no other affordable hotel is closer.

Yes. As of March 2023, all vehicles parked anywhere in the park for more than 15 minutes need a Park It Forward parking tag. Tags cost $5 daily, $15 weekly, or $40 annually. Tags are sold at visitor centers, online at recreation.gov, and at automated kiosks. Note: park admission itself remains free — this is only for parking.
